Bylaws
(1) The library shall be open upon such days and at such times as the President and Director shall jointly determine subject to the approval of the Trustees and in no event shall be less than twenty (20) hours per week.
(2) After a book is three (3) months overdue, the patron will be assessed the value of the book.
(3) Any injury done to books beyond reasonable amount of wear shall be made good at the time the damage occurred, and in the case of loss from any causes, the volume or volumes shall be replaced by the loser.
(4) Any individual who shall not have made restitution to the library for damages or losses shall be prohibited from taking out further volumes until such restitution is made.
(5) The normal lending time shall be three (3) weeks; however, in the case of volumes for which there is a great demand the above may be two (2) weeks.
(6) The Board of Trustees shall be the judges in all questions on loss or damage and they shall decide upon the books and periodicals to be admitted to the library. They shall also determine what disposal shall be made of library property that is no longer needed or useful.
(7) In the event of dissolution, all of the remaining assets and property of the Barneveld Free Library Association shall, after necessary expenses thereof, be distributed exclusively to the Town of Trenton if it shall at the time qualify as a municipality under Section 1l l6 (a) (4) of the New York State sales and Use Tax Law.
(8) No part of the net earnings of the Barneveld Free Library Association shall inure to the benefit of any member, Trustee, Director of Officer of the Association, (except that reasonable compensation may be paid for services rendered) and no Member, Trustee, officer or private individual shall be entitled to share in the distribution of any assets on dissolution of the Barneveld Free Library Association.
(9) No substantial part of the activities of the Barneveld Free Library Association shall be attempting to influence legislation or participating or intervening in any political campaign (including the publication or distribution of statements) on behalf of any candidate for public office.
(10) The Barneveld Free Library Association is organized exclusively for the purposes of literary and educational purposes and shall not engage in any activities not permitted a tax-exempt organization under Section 1116 (a) (4) of the New York State Sales and Tax Law.
